Baseball Splits Double-Header with Lourdes

TOLEDO, Ohio -- The Siena Heights baseball split a double-header with WHAC opponent Lourdes (Ohio) on Monday with scores of 17-2 and 0-2.

Justin McPherson earned the win on the mound for the Saints after pitching the fourth and fifth innings on. Thomas McCarter threw the first three innings.

Lourdes (6-22, 1-9) opened the scoring in the first inning and scored again in the third inning to go up 2-0 on the Saints. 

Siena Heights put six runs on the board in both the fourth and fifth innings. The Saints added two runs in the sixth and three runs in the seventh inning to reach 17 runs, 15 of which were earned. 

Austin Forsythe and Austin Hauck each went 3-of-4 in game one and earned three RBIs. Brendan Green went 4-of-5 while Freddy Jehle went 3-of-5. As a team, Siena earned 21 hits. 

In game two, the Gray Wolves pushed two runs across in the first inning against SHU pitcher Kyle Kuhr

It was a different ball game with LU pitchers Bill Laranga, Liam Bloom and Brandon Holt holding the Saints to only five hits. 

Siena Heights (12-15, 5-8) couldn't string the hits together and was shut out by the Gray Wolves. 

The Saints will be back in action when they travel to Marygrove on Wednesday for a conference double-header starting at 2 p.m.
