ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team split the first two games of a four game weekend series against Rochester. The Saints lost 3-2 in nine innings and won 4-1 in seven innings, on Saturday.

Brent Vaccaro started on the mound for the Saints in game one. The Warriors started the scoring: Ricky Riggs singled to center field, sending Eric Mischley home.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Saints (7-4) responded with lead-off Freddy Jehle hitting a bunt single then stealing second. Daniel Muller sent him home with a double through center field. Dunlop then put a line shot out to center field that sent Muller home.

For the Warriors, Tyler Provow hit a double through right center to send Mischley home in the top of the fifth to tie the game.

With Ben Finn pitching for SHU, the score stayed tied through the seventh and eighth innings. With two outs, the Warriors hit a single sending the winning run over the plate in the top of the ninth.

Vaccaro earned four strikeouts for the Saints after pitching six innings. Winning pitcher Mike Berlin threw two innings and allowed no hits.

Thomas McCarter pitched the full seven innings in the 4-1 victory over the Warriors (8-9). He allowed three hits and earned three strikeouts.

For the Saints, Matthew Bondy hit a triple to right field and went sent home on a groundout by Travis Stricklin in the second inning.

Pinch hitter J.R. Dawley singled to left field to send Muller home in the bottom of the sixth. Bradley Connochie sent one to center field for a single and an RBI by sending Bondy home for Siena.

The Warriors added a lone run in the top of the seventh but it wasn't enough to overcome the 4-0 deficit.

The Saints will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at home for a 1 p.m. double-header against Rochester.
