Baseball Drops Two Contests

LAKE WALES, Fla. -- The Siena Heights baseball team dropped two contests against Thomas (Ga.) and Warner (Fla.) on Friday. The Saints fell 7-1 against Thomas and a close 3-2 decision to Warner.

The Saints (3-3) started off strong against Thomas, with Freddy Jehle scoring in the first.

Thomas answered in the third inning bringing in two runs.

On the mound for the Saints, Thomas McCarter threw 5.1 innings allowing nine hits and six runs. He was relieved by Reid Olmstead after the Night Hawks scored five in the sixth inning. Olmstead gave up two hits and one run.

Zack Dunlop and Travis Stricklin each went 2-for-3 at the plate for SHU. Joe Williams and Carson Wlad lead the Saints defense, each earning six putouts.

A hit by J.R. Dawley caused the Warner Royals to make an error, which allowed Stricklin to make it home in the second inning.

In the fifth inning, Dunlop hit a single, sending Jehle home. Dunlop went a perfect 3-for-3 in the second game for the Saints.

SHU's Chris McKiddie threw for five innings, earning four strikeouts and allowing one earned run.

The Saints will take on Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) on Saturday. Game time is set for 9:30 p.m.
