Baseball Earns a Season-Opening Win Against #RV MVNU

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- The Siena Heights men's baseball team picked up a season-opening 2-1 win against recieving-votes Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) on Monday.

Brent Vaccaro lead the Saints through the first six innings, allowing only two hits while earning one strikeout and no runs.

The game was tied 0-0 after the first seven innings.

In the bottom of the eight inning, Joe Williams hit Freddy Jehle home to go up 1-0 heading into the ninth.

The Cougars (7-3) respoded, earning a run off of Saints' pitcher Chris McKiddie in the top of the ninth.

Siena Heights (1-0) fought back and loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth. Daniel Muller hit Travis Stricklin home for the win.

McKiddie came in to relieve Vaccaro after the sixth. He threw two strikeouts, allowing two hits and one run. McKiddie earned the win for SHU.

Next up, the Saints will take on Trinity Christian (Ill.) on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m.
