Davenport sweeps Saints Baseball

Game One

Adrian, Mich. - Davenport scored three runs in the last two innings to come from behind and beat the Saints 4-3.  Dennis Sharp got the Saints on the board in the second inning with an RBI double.  Later that inning, Drew Milligan added a second Saints run with a sacrifice fly.

Both teams scored single runs in the fifth inning.  That set the stage for Davenport's Brenden Bender to single in two runs in the eighth inning to tie the game, and Brandon Cable to drive in the winning run in the top of the ninth.

Four Saints recorded two hits in the game.  They were: Sharp, Milligan, Lucas Bartz, and Nate Kraus.

Brent Vaccaro went the distance on the mound for the Saints as he struck out four batters.  Jonathan Cheshire took the win in relief for the Panthers.

Game Two

The Saints bats were quiet in game two, while Davenports were not.  Davenport slugged 13 hits and scored 12 runs, winning 12-0.

Tyler Butlin took the loss on the mound.  Nate Kraus went 1-for-2 at the plate, while Freddy Jehle went 1-for-3.

The Saints will return to action next Thursday and Friday when they travel to Cornerstone for a four game series.  The Saints and Golden Eagles unofficially will both be fighting for their playoff lives in the series.
