Baseball on Wrong End of Sweep at #24 UNOH

LIMA, Ohio -- The Siena Heights baseball team suffered a pair of losses, 13-3 and 18-2, to 24th-ranked Northwestern Ohio in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Sunday.

Eric Henderson was the Saints' leading offensive performer in game one, which ended after nine innings. Henderson batted 2-for-4 with one RBI. Drew Milligan added a triple and Travis Stricklin had a double.

Siena Heights took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Zack Dunlop, but that was the visitors' only lead of the day.

UNOH struck back for two runs in the first and one in the third before the Saints trimmed their deficit to 3-2 on an RBI triple by Milligan.

SHU scored its last run in the seventh on an RBI single by Henderson.

UNOH ended the game with two runs in the sixth, two in the seventh and five in the eighth.

Tyler Butlin was the losing pitcher, tossing four innings and giving up four runs on seven hits.

Brandon Collins and Ryan Lozada had 3-for-4 games for Northwestern Ohio. Collins finished with two doubles, three runs and three RBI. Lozada had a double and three RBI. Jose Cruz also had two doubles.

Winning pitcher Ruben Medina gave up three runs on nine hits while recording two strikeouts in seven innings of work.

In game two -- a seven-inning contest -- UNOH struck for 12 runs during the first two innings and never looked back.

Cruz, Zyler Cosby and Rafael Lozada had 3-for-4 games for the Racers. Cruz had a homer, triple and six RBI. Cosby added a triple, three runs and two RBI while Rafael Lozada had a double, two runs and three RBI.

The Saints scored their runs on an RBI single by Dennis Sharp Jr. in the second inning and an RBI single by Raymond Cleary during the fourth. Stricklin added a triple for SHU.

Ryan Burns was the winning pitcher for UNOH (32-8, 20-2). He gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits while striking out eight batters in four innings of labor.

SHU's Brent Vaccaro suffered his first loss of the season, struggling into the second inning before he was removed. He was tagged for nine runs on nine hits.

The Saints (14-20, 9-12) will return to action on Wednesday with a 2 p.m. WHAC doubleheader at Marygrove.
