The Siena Heights men’s basketball team compiled an overall record of 87-21 and advanced to the NAIA Division II National Championship Tournament during the three years Doug Gray started for the Saints. Gray finished his Saints’ career with 1,206 points and 559 rebounds and was named to the WHAC All-Conference Team in his junior and senior seasons. In 2004, he earned WHAC Conference Player-of-the-Year honors and was named to the NAIA All-America Second Team. He garnered NAIA All-American Honorable Mention honors in 2003. Siena Heights captured WHAC regular-season conference championship in all three of Gray’s years as a Saint, and he helped Fred Smith’s club win the 2003 conference tournament title. Gray received the 2003 Thomas Emmet, Sr. Award as the university’s outstanding junior student-athlete. He earned NAIA All-American Scholar-Athlete honors in both 2003 and 2004 and was also named to the conference scholar-athlete teams.
