The 2002 Siena Heights University women’s soccer team went undefeated (7-0) in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play and finished their record-breaking season with the second-best record (21-2-1) in the history of Siena Heights women’s soccer.

Coach Scott Oliver’s club captured both conference and NAIA Region VIII titles to advance to the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship Tournament for the third time in school history after a 12-year absence.

The Saints entered the NAIA National Championship Tournament as the #10 seed and faced #7-seed Park University (Mo.) in the first round in Olathe, KS.  The Saints and Pirates battled to a 1-1 tie after regulation and two overtime periods; with the Saints falling in penalty kicks 4-2.

Coach Oliver earned WHAC Conference Coach-of-the-Year honors and five players (Sally Skeels, Stacey Koehler, Katie Tourangeau, Stephanie Schaffron and Kara McKeon) were named to the All-WHAC Conference Team. McKeon recorded a school-record sixteen shutouts in goal and Skeels led the Saints in scoring in 2002.

Fellow Saints Kristen Wickenheiser and Amy Debner earned NAIA All-American Scholar-Athlete honors; and Schaffron, Koehler and McKeon earned Honorable Mention All-American recognition.
