Matt Miller’s record-breaking running career as a member of the Siena Heights University cross country and track & field teams got off to a fast start in his first season of competition as a Saint.  In the fall of 1998, Miller set a new freshman cross country record with a time of 24:59, a record he still owns at the time of his induction into the Siena Heights University Athletic Hall of Fame.

Miller was a key contributor on the Saints’ 8th-place finish at the 1998 NAIA Cross Country National Championships.

Miller’s fantastic freshman year didn’t end with the fall cross country season; he went on to earn NAIA All-American honors in both Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field as a freshman in the spring of 1999.  He would go on to earn NAIA All-American honors four times and Honorable Mention All-American honors another five times during his career.

In 2001, Matt earned NAIA All-American honors at the NAIA Indoor National Championships in a 5th-place finish in the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:30.03.
