The following was printed on Michele (Lourim)
Lichtinger's HOF plaque:
Michele (Lourim) Lichtinger is the first women’s
basketball player inducted into the Siena Heights University
Athletic Hall of Fame. Lichtinger established many
“firsts” and amassed impressive statistics during her
outstanding four-year career for the Lady Saints.
She was the first Siena Heights women’s basketball player to
reach the 1,000-point plateau as a junior guard in 1986. That
same year, she was the first-ever Lady Saints basketball player
named to the All-District #23 team. Lichtinger earned
NAIA-All-District #23 honors again as a senior. She was a
co-captain for three seasons and was named the team’s Most
Valuable Player in her junior and senior seasons. At the time
of her induction into the Hall of Fame, she ranks second overall in
career assists (381), third in scoring (1,497 points), and sixth in
steals (197).
In addition to her athletic awards and achievements, Lichtinger
also garnered several academic honors and was active in many
extra-curricular activities on campus. She was named to
several academic National Honor Societies and served as the
Vice-President of the Student Senate. She was twice named to
the National All-Catholic Academic All-American team and received
the Siena Heights College Outstanding Student Award as a senior in
1987.
