The following was printed on Tom Jakubowski's HOF
plaque:
Tom Jakubowski became the first NAIA All-American in Siena
Heights University track & field history in the spring of
1981. A transfer from Adrian College, Jakubowski placed third
in the 60-yard high hurdles at the 16th Annual NAIA
Indoor Track & Field National Championships in Kansas City, Mo.
Jakubowski’s All-American performance made him the
second NAIA All-American in Siena Heights’ athletic history
at the time of his third-place finish in Municipal
Auditorium.
“Jake” also has the distinction of being the only
Siena Heights University Hall of Fame inductee to earn both NAIA
and NCAA All-American honors. He earned NCAA All-American
honors with a third-place finish in the 110-meter high hurdles at
the 1980 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National
Championships.
In 1979, Jakubowski was the MIAA Champion in the 120-yard
hurdles; and followed it up with a conference title in the 120-yard
hurdles in 1980 while competing for Adrian College.
Thirty years after his record-breaking and only season running
for the Saints, Jakubowski still holds school records in the
110-meter hurdles and 400-yard intermediate hurdles at Siena
Heights University.
