The following was printed on Steve Emmons' HOF
plaque:
Emmons was the first bona fide power hitter in the history of
Saints’ baseball. A three-year captain for the Saints,
Emmons transferred to Siena Heights in 1982 from Washtenaw
Community College. Emmons was named to the NAIA All-District
#23 team as a first baseman in each of his three seasons. In
his first season (1982) for the Saints, he was named the
team’s Most Valuable Player and led the club in home runs
(7), runs batted in (47) and batting average (.374). In his
junior season, he established single-season school records for home
runs and runs batted in. In his final season for the Saints,
Emmons was named the NAIA District #23 Player of the Year and led
the team with a .395 batting average. At the end of his
stellar three-year career for the Saints, he had set career records
in home runs, runs batted in and batting average. Emmons
graduated from Siena Heights College in 1985 with a degree in
business.
