The following was printed on Dave Bonino's HOF plaque:

Dave Bonino was a fixture at first base as a four-year starter for the Saints from 1987-90 and still ranks among the all-time SHU baseball offensive statistical leaders in career average, home runs, walks and runs batted in.

Bonino captained three of the four teams he played on at Siena Heights and earned NAIA All-District #23 honors in 1987 and 1989.  At the end of his four-year career, he was the all-time career leader in seven offensive categories including batting average, hits, home runs, walks and runs scored.  The 2008 inductee still ranks #1 all-time in career walks (156) and #3 in both hits (197) and home runs (24).

With his induction into the SHU Hall of Fame this year, he becomes one of three Saints in the Hall from the 1989 District #23 and Area VI runner-up club; joining 2007 inductee Al Stobinski and 2000 inductee Adam Benschoter.

Bonino continued to play organized baseball well after his collegiate days at Siena Heights.  In 1995, he hit a ball over the roof in Tiger Stadium while competing in a charity event; and he played a professional baseball player in the 2001 HBO film 61* which was directed by Billy Crystal.
