The Siena Heights University men’s basketball team compiled an overall record of 117-30 during Matt Baaki’s four-year career as the Saints’ point guard.  Baaki finished his outstanding career as the Saints’ all-time assist leader with 445.  He also ranks in the top ten in career scoring (#10 with 1,379 points) and three-point field goals (#6 with 205). 

The Saints captured three straight National Catholic Basketball Tournament championships, two WHAC Conference Tournament titles and made four consecutive appearances in the NAIA Division II National Championship Tournament during Baaki’s career.

Matt was named the Most Valuable Player of the National Catholic Basketball Tournament (NCBT) as a sophomore in 1999.  A year later, he was named to the NCBT All-Tournament Team. He earned All-WHAC Conference honors in both 2000 and 2001 and was named to the All-WHAC Academic Team in 2000.

The 1999-2000 season was a memorable one for Baaki and the entire Saints’ team.  The Saints went 31-8 overall and advanced to the semi-finals of the NAIA Division II National Championship tournament in Point Lookout, Mo.  Matt was named to the All-Tournament Team for his performance during the championship and was named the Saints’ Most Valuable Player at the end of the season.

In his senior season, the Saints posted a 31-6 record and Baaki earned NAIA Honorable Mention All-American honors.
