STUNT Coming To SHU: Saints Announce Addition of Growing Sport

Siena Heights University is proud to announce the addition of STUNT, a new varsity program that will begin competition during the 2023-24 school year.

STUNT is a head-to-head game between two teams that execute skills-based routines in various categories. It includes partner stunts, jumps and tumbling, pyramids and tosses and team routines.

The new Saints' STUNT program will be led by current SHU cheer and dance coach Liz Teague.

"Our STUNT program will provide an opportunity to many talented female athletes," she said.  "We are beyond excited to expand our program and welcome STUNT to Siena Heights University."

Two other WHAC schools have already adopted STUNT: Aquinas and Concordia. The growing sport has reached several other Michigan campuses, including Alma, Central Michigan, Davenport, Michigan, Michigan State and Olivet.

The NAIA does not currently sponsor STUNT as a championship sport, although an NAIA-Division championship was contested at the 2022 STUNT College Nationals in Rocklin, Calif.

"We are excited to bring STUNT to the campus of Siena Heights University," said athletic director Sue Syljebeck. "The addition of STUNT allows the University to stay ahead of the curve on emerging sports."
