Siena Heights Beats Madonna

Livonia, Mich.  – The Siena Heights women's lacrosse team won their WHAC contest this afternoon. 

THE BASICS

Final Score: Siena Heights 20, Madonna 6

Location: Livonia, Michigan (The MAC)

Records: SHU (4-7, 2-2 WHAC), Madonna (2-7, 0-4 WHAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Siena Heights opened up the game in the first minute of play with a goal by Jenna Sommerville. A couple minutes later, Samantha Pawlowski scored on a free position shot to make the game 2-0. With 26 minutes left in the first half, Madonna scored their first goal of the game. After that it was all Saints as they would go on a 10-1 scoring run to wrap up the first half. Katherine Tapia scored first on the run followed by another Pawlowski goal. Katherine Tapia and Jenna Sommerville each scored on a free position shot to extend the lead to 6-1. Madonna finally scored a goal to make it 6-2 but then it was right back to SHU scoring. Tapia had back to back goals then with 11 minutes left in the half Pawlowski added another goal. Tapia and Natalie Williams each followed Pawlowski's goal with free position goals. With the game at 11-2, Kristin Delclos and Katherine Tapia both netted balls to send the game score 13-2 heading into halftime.

In the second half it was all Siena Heights once again. Madonna started off with back to back goals but Sommerville and Tapia equaled out the goals to make the score 15-4. Madonna had back to back goals with 12 minutes to go in the game to set SHU's lead to 9 goals. The Saints then would keep scoring after that when Tapia added two more goals to her total on the day. Sommerville, Tapia, and Delclos all scored again. The Saints ended the day with a 20-6 win.
