Siena Losses a Close Game to Indiana Tech

Adrian, Mich.  – The Siena Heights women's lacrosse team lost a conference match vs. Indiana Tech.

Final Score: Siena Heights 13 , Indiana Tech 15

Location: Adrian, Michigan (O'Laughlin Stadium)

Records: SHU (3-7, 1-2 WHAC), Indiana Tech (5-2, 3-0 WHAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Saints and Warriors faced off for WHAC contest this afternoon. Indiana Tech got on the scoreboard first when they scored in the first 2 minutes. Siena would score a few minutes after by a goal from Samantha Pawlowski to even the score up at 1. Tech netted a ball to go up 2-1 with 25 minutes to play in the first half. Siena Heights would once again tie the game up when Katherine Tapia scored. SHU would take the lead with 22 minutes left in the half courtesy of Kristin Delclos. Alexis Nicole would extend the lead when she scored to make the game 4-2. The Warriors got a goal back to make it 4-3 10 minutes into the game. SHU got the goal back when Jenna Sommerville made her shot and the Saints lead went back to 2. Pawlowski got her second goal of the game with 15:49 left in the 1st half to extend the Saints 6-3 over Tech. Indiana Tech a minute later would score a goal and the game would go to 6 to 4 SHU. The Warriors closed the gap again and scored to cut the lead down to one goal. Siena Heights' Pawlowski scored her third goal of the game and put the Saints back up by two goals. Indiana Tech would capitalize on a turnover and cut the gap to one goal again. With 2 minutes left in the half, Nicole netted her second goal of the game and put the score at 8-6.

In the second half SHU started off with a goal by Jenna Sommerville to push Siena's lead back to three goals. It would not last long as Tech scored three goals in a row to make the game 9-9. Then with 24 minutes left in the game, the Warriors scored to go up by one goal 10-9. Soon the Warriors would add to the 4-1 run in the second half and score four more goal to go a head 14-9. Saints would finally break the Tech's scoring run as Pawlowski scored again to set the score at 14-10. Indiana Tech would get that goal back when they scored with 8 minutes left in the game. Sommerville scored her third goal of the game in with 7 minutes to go and put the score at 15-11. Siena would add another goal when Tapia scored on a free position shot. Pawlowski would score her fifth goal of the day with 51 seconds left in the game to make the score 15-13. But SHU could not complete the comeback.
