Softball Ends Season with Loss to Michigan-Dearborn in WHAC Tournament

SYLVANIA, Ohio — The Siena Heights softball team fell to Michigan-Dearborn, 1-3, on Friday to end their season at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament.

The bats were quiet on both sides until Jordan Bianchi singled to center in the bottom of the third. She was unable to advance but the Saints were able to keep the UMD bats quiet once more. Kris Forest singled to center field in the fourth and advanced to second on a Kelsey Cherry sacrifice bunt. Again the Saints were unable to push the run across.

In the top of the sixth UM-Dearborn scored an unearned run followed by a two RBI homerun by Ewald, putting the Wolverines up 3-0. The Saints came back swinging with a Bianchi double to left field and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Ashley Helmink. Taylor Mowery earned a sacrifice fly, RBI to earn the Saints' lone run.

Racquel Ward took the loss on the mound, tossing all seven innings while allowing five hits and three runs and striking out five. On the offensive side, Bianchi went 2-for-2 while scoring the Saints' lone run. Forest and Ward each went 1-for-2 with a walk each.
