LIVONIA, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's lacrosse team lost 13-10 to Madonna in the quarterfinals of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) tournament. Jake Gallaher led the Saints with three goals in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints scored the only two goals of the opening quarter to hold a 2-0 advantage over the Crusaders. Two more SHU goals in the opening three minutes of the second quarter saw the Saints push the lead to four. Madonna responded with six unanswered goals in almost seven minutes to pull ahead 6-4. Danny Kreitzer scored the final goal of the first half to put Siena down only one goal as the teams entered half time.
The Crusaders extended the lead to four with three-straight goals to start the third quarter. Gallaher scored a goal with 10:28 left in the quarter to put the lead at three. Ryan Mamo and Alex Gilbert tacked on goals in the third quarter, but Madonna was able to respond in kind and the score sat at 12-8 as the teams entered the final 15 minutes of play.
Gallaher completed his hat trick with a man-up goal with 2:23 left in regulation to put the score at 12-9. Nolan Lyons scored the final goal of the game with 1:23 left, but the Saints couldn't catch the Crusaders before time expired.
TOP SAINTS
• Gallaher finished the game with four points (3+1=4) and a team-high nine ground balls.
• Mamo and Lyons scored twice. Mamo added two assists to his totals.
• Gilbert tallied a goal, two ground balls, and a caused turnover.
• Vinnie Jean (L, 7-7) made 15 saves between the posts.
THE OPPOSITION
• Cole Gingell led Madonna with three goals. He also hauled in six ground balls.
• Zachary Beam had a game-high 10 ground balls in the win.
• Tyler Dohmeier (W, 13-3) earned a win with 13 saves in 60 minutes of play in goal.
SEASON REVIEW
The Saints finish the season with a 7-7 overall mark and a 4-4 conference record. Siena will have to wait and see if they are selected to compete in the NAIA national tournament that begins on May 8.
