Men's Basketball Falls to Bethel (Ind.) 76-66

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team suffered a 76-66 defeat on the road against Bethel (Ind.) on Saturday night. DeMarco Dickerson led the Saints in points with 27 in the defeat. Keith Jordan Jr. finished with 14 points and eight rebounds while Kevin Smith II scored 10 and hauled in four boards. Dan Everhart finished with a game-high 13 rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Pilots jumped out to a 24-7 lead in the first 10:36 of the opening half. The Saints would use a 26-6 run to take the lead 33-30 with just over two minutes remaining before the half. Bethel ended the half with a 7-0 run to recapture the lead 37-33 as both teams entered the locker room at intermission.

Siena retook the lead, 40-39, with five-straight points with just north of 18 minutes left in regulation. The score remained close as the teams traded a few leads up to a tie at 47 with 12:15 left on the clock. An 8-0 run by the Pilots gave them a slight cushion with just under nine minutes. Siena would cut the deficit to three points (54-57) but some clutch shooting by Bethel allowed them to pull ahead and earn the double-digit lead and win.

TOP SAINTS

• Dickerson was 9-16 from the field and 4-7 from beyond the arc.

• Jordan Jr. shot 6-12 from the floor and 1-3 from three. He split his eight rebounds evenly between offense and defense.

THE OPPOSITION

• Grant Gelon led the Pilots off the bench with 24 points. He made six three-point jumpers to lead all players from deep. He also led the team in rebounds with seven.

The Saints will travel to face Goshen (Ind.) on Wednesday, November 6. That game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 p.m., EST.
