SHU Splits DH vs. Rochester

Adrian, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team split a double header today against Rochester College.

THE BASICS

Final Scores: Game 1: Siena Heights 4 Rochester College 6, Game 2: Siena Heights 10, Rochester 0

Location: Adrian, Michigan (SHU Baseball Diamond)

Records: Siena Heights (7-11, 1-3), Rochester (4-20, 1-3)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1:

Saints started the game hot as they scored in the 1st inning. Connor McCoy doubled home a runner to make the game 1-0. Then Logan Nolff singled to left center to score McCoy and made it a 2-0 game. Rochester would finally get on the board in the 3rd inning when they had a pair of singles to score a run then a pass ball to score another. Heading into the 5th inning with the score tied at 2, the Warriors scored another run off of Saints starter Rob Oliver III. SHU would then tie the game back up in the 6th as an error by the Warriors help score a run. Cody Henderson had the go ahead RBI later that inning when he walked with bases loaded. Siena could not hold onto the lead as Rochester would score a run in the 7th and two more in the 9th to go ahead by 2. The Saints could not rally back and RC would take game 1.

Game 2:

SHU came out and dominated the second game as they got out to an early 1 run lead in the 1st inning when Logan Nolff singled to right field that sent home a runner. Nolff came back up to the plate in the 3rd inning and hit a sacrifice fly to center field which scored another run. David Pietryga would then reach on a fielder's choice to score another run and make it 3-0. Snyder Torres was up in the 4th inning when he singled to center and sent home a run to extend the Saints lead. SHU added even more to their lead in the 6th inning when Ryley Overacker tripled to score a run. Then Torres singled home a run followed by a Brenden Baker sac fly to right field sending home Weston Cook. Connor McCoy added to the hit parade when he doubled to left field which scored Torres to make it 8-0. The Saints looked to beat the Warriors for a mercy run rule in the 8th when Brendan Green singled scoring a run and McCoy singled to score the tenth run of the game for SHU. The run rule was in effect for a 10 run lead past the 7th inning and the Saints won.
