Saints Earn a Big Win Following a Loss

Avon Park, Fla. -- The Siena Heights baseball team split a doubleheader today on day two of the Warner Invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1:

Siena took on Spring Arbor for game one of the day. SAU got on the board in the 1st inning to make it a 1-0 game. However, the Saints respond right back and put up two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Brendan Green doubled to knock in one RBI followed by another double by Connor McCoy which knocked in Green to make it a 2-1 ball game.

Spring Arbor was able to put together a run in the 2nd inning to tie the game back up. The 3rd inning was a tough one for SHU as they gave up a three run home run and two more runs to make the game 8-2. The Cougars would continue to score as they scored again in the 4th, 6th, and 7th innings.

Siena would try to come back in the 7th by scoring off a McCoy RBI but couldn't make the full comeback.

Game 2:

The Saints would take the field again where pitching and hitting was on point. Ayden Hannon would start the game and go 5 innings, 3 hits, and 2 runs. No scoring would happen till the 4th and 5th innings as St. Francis scored their only two runs in those innings.

SHU would answer back in a big way starting in the when Connor McCoy had a two RBI single to tie the game up. David Pietryga would follow with a RBI single. After that Ryley Overacker had a RBI single. Weston Cook came to the plate up next and hit into a fielder's choice with the run scoring. THe score would be 5-2. But the Saints were not done in that inning when Trevor Hulvey hit a RBI single. The RBI singles would keep coming as Brendan Baker and Brenden Green each had a RBI single to extend the lead. With the score 8-2 Logan Nolff stepped up to the plate and hit a grand slam home run to push the lead to 12-2.
