The Siena Heights University women's cross country team finished fifth in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference after a successful 2017 season.
For the fourth year running Ashley Russo went on to qualify for nationals for the Saints. Russo finished 43rd at the 2017 NAIA Cross Country National Championships. Senior, biology major from Kent City, Mich. was also recognized as a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete.
In order to be considered for this award the athlete must be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
