Cross Country Set For The NAIA Great Lakes Invitational in Grand Rapids

The Siena Heights men's and women's cross country teams are headed to Grand Rapids, Mich. for the NAIA Great Lakes Invitational, on Saturday. The race will take place at Riverside Park with a 12 p.m. start time for the men and 1 p.m. start for the women.

Both the men's and the women's teams are currently receiving-votes on the NAIA Top 25 Poll on Oct. 11.

Finishing first for the Lady Saints was Ashley Russo, crossing the finish line in 18:42.56 to earn fifth place at the Jayhawk XC Invitational. The team as a whole took second of 17 teams with a total score of 126 points.

The top finisher for the men was Esrom Woldemichael who crossed the 8k finish line at 25:25.81 as the first collegiate finisher. SHU was the runner-up at the Jayhawk XC Invitational with 53 points.

Both cross country teams will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 4, for the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championship Race also at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids, Mich.
