Crowe Helps Women's Cross Country to Fifth Place at the Calvin College Invitational

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's cross country team was led by freshman Andrea Crowe as the Saints finished in fifth place overall at the Calvin College Invitational, on Saturday.

Crowe took 11th place for the Saints, crossing the finish line of the 5k course in 18:27.5. Winning the event in 17:46.5 was Calvin runner Katie Diekema. Next up for SHU was senior Ashley Russo, finishing in 18:37.0 to earn 13th. Finishing in 30th place was sophomore Patricia Santos-Buitrago in 19:13.7. The final two finishers for Siena Heights were freshman Megan Rosales and Anna Buist in 19:17.4 for 33rd place and 19:21.3 for 35th place, respectively.

As a team, SHU finished the race with a time of 1:34:56 with an five-person team average of 18:59 on the five-kilometer course. Winning was NCAA Division II team Grand Valley State with a total time of 1:32:17, an 18:27 five-person team average. Finishing second and third was NAIA No. 4 Aquinas (1:32.37 - 18:31 average) and NAIA No. 25 Madonna (1:33.43 - 18:44 average), respectively.

In fourth place was Calvin with a time of 1:34:00, an 18:48 average, only nine seconds faster than the Saints' average. SHU beat out WHAC foe, NAIA receiving-votes Cornerstone by an average of 18 seconds per runner. CU finished in 1:36:29, averaging 19:17 per runner.

Next up, Siena Heights will travel to Grand Rapids to take part in the GRCC Raider Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 22.
