Metz Named to All-WHAC First Team, Hudgin, Tylutki Breton and Kalugar All-WHAC Second Team

Siena Heights women's volleyball senior, setter, Amanda Metz was named to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, First Team All-Conference as announced by the league. Sophomore, Paige Hudgin, junior, Christine Tylutki and seniors, Gabrielle Kalugar and Libby Breton were all named to the All-Conference Second Team.

So far this season, Metz had dished out 1,004 assists, averaging 8.96 assists per set. She also leads the Saints with 39 aces on the season and had added 287 digs and 57 total blocks. In the 2016-17 season, Metz was named to the All-Conference second team.

Hudgin is third for the Saints in kills, with 249 and second on the team with 428 digs. She also stands second on the team with 2.31 kills per set. Last season, as a freshman, Hudgin was named to the All-WHAC First Team and was named WHAC Newcomer of the Year.

Breton has ignited the Saints' offense as she sits second on the team with 250 kills, averaging 2.27 kills per set. She leads the team with an attack percent of .289 and with 123 blocks – 15 solo and 108 assisted.

Leading Siena Heights in kills is Christine Tylutki with 292 and 2.63 kills per set. She also adds a team third best, 317 digs.

Kalugar, the Saints' Libero, holds a team best, 620 digs and averages 5.44 digs per set. She also added 31 aces this season and tied a school record for aces in a game. In the 2016-17 season, Kalugar was named to the All-WHAC Second Team for her efforts.

Siena Heights boasts nine members of the WHAC All-Academic team, including all seven seniors. The student athletes selected to the All-Academic team must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 and must have achieved junior status. The SHU members are Julie Bonk, Libby Breton, Rachel Cornish, Gabrielle Kalugar, Amanda Metz, Taylor Purcell, Abby Whitehead, Taylor Felver and Ashleigh Shay.

SHU's Champion of Character recipient was Anna Tartarian.

The Saints will return to action on Friday evening as they take on No. 18 Cornerstone in the WHAC Tournament semifinals at Madonna. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
