Women's Volleyball Named Aquinas/Cornerstone Classic Champions, Breton Named MVP

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team took on Taylor (Ind.) and Indiana-South Bend in day two of the Aquinas/Cornerstone Classic. The Saints swept both matches and moved their record to 21-3 overall.

In game one, the Saints defeated Taylor (16-14) in three sets by scores of 25-23, 26-24 and 25-23. Christine Tylutki led SHU with 19 kills and added 11 digs. Amanda Metz dished out 39 assists while Paige Hudgin finished with a team high, 23 digs, followed closely by Gabrielle Kalugar with 21. 

In the second game of the day, Siena Heights swept IU-South Bend. Set scores were 25-17, 25-20 and 25-18. Libby Breton led the way with 12 kills and adding two blocks. Amanda Metz led the Saints again with 25 assists while Anna Tartarian finished with a team high, 15 digs. 

Helping the Saints to their 4-0 tournament appearance and a first place finish, was Libby Breton who was named Aquinas/Cornerstone Classic Most Valuable Player. Christine Tylutki was selected as a member of the All-Tournament First team, while Gabrielle Kalugar was named to the All-Tournament Second Team.

Next up, the Saints will host Rochester in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday, Oct. 18. First serve is set for 7:30 p.m.
