Metz Named MVP, Hudgin Named to All-Tournament Team as Saints Win Kick-Off Tournament

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Siena Heights women's volleyball team competed in day two of the Concordia Kick-Off Tournament going 1-1 on the day after dropping it's contest to Spring Arbor, three sets to two then defeating Rochester College in three.

Going 3-1 overall in the tournament, the Saints were named tournament champions after winning the tie-breaker (total number of sets won) over Evangel (Mo.) and Spring Arbor.

In game one of the day, the Saints fell to the Cougars 3-2 with set scores of 25-19, 18-25, 25-13, 20-25 and 12-15. Further stats were not available at the time of the release.

In the second game of the day, and final game of the tournament, SHU was victorious over Rochester College in three sets. Set scores were 25-20, 25-10 and 25-9. Ten Saints contributed at least one kill, led by Taylor Purcell with four. Amanda Metz distributed 15 assists, Madison Sitter was close behind with 11. Gabrielle Kalugar finished with 18 digs in the match.

The Saints had two All-Tournament selections – Sophomore Paige Hudgin, and Senior Amanda Metz who was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

Next up, Siena Heights will host cross-town rival, Adrian on Friday, Aug. 25 with a first serve time set for 7 p.m.
