Women's Volleyball Sweeps UM-Dearborn in Teal Attack Match

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team hosted UM-Dearborn in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest on Saturday. The Saints took the match in three sets with scores of 25-21, 25-13 and 25-13.

SHU was led by Paige Hudgin, Libby Breton and Abby Whitehead, all with seven kills. Amanda Metz dished out 26 assists in the match.

Metz and Gabrielle Kalugar each finished with ten digs for the Saints. Breton and Rebekah Collier each assisted on blocking two Wolverine attacks.

UM-Dearborn was paced by Shayla Smalls with six kills and Daniella Barile with 21 assists. Raechel Warchock was the Wolverine leader with 12 digs.

Set one: Siena Heights 25, UM-Dearborn 21
The Wolverines jumped out quick with a 6-1 start. The Saints responded with a run of their own and eventually tied the score at 11-11. Scores were traded until SHU took their final lead at 20-19 and held on for the set one victory.

Set two: Siena Heights 25, UM-Dearborn 13
The Saints scored the first point of the set and never looked back. Siena Heights completed a 4-0 run to put the score at 8-15 and then a 5-0 run to stretch their lead to 20-9. The Wolverines were not able to recover.

Set three: Siena Heights 25, UM-Dearborn 13
SHU took off on a 6-0 run early and set the score at 8-1. UM-D battled but it was not enough. Siena Heights took the set and match victory.

Next up, the Siena Heights women's volleyball team will travel to Concordia on Wednesday, Oct. 26 for a WHAC match-up. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
