Women's Volleyball Takes Down St. Mary's and Cross Town Rival Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team traveled across town on Saturday to compete in the Adrian College Tri-Match against St. Mary's (IND.) and the host, Adrian. SHU walked away with two victories after taking down St. Mary's, 3-0, and Adrian, 3-1.

Match one: Siena Heights 3, St. Mary's 0
SHU swept St. Mary's in their first match of the day with set scores of 25-23, 27-25 and 25-20.

Paige Hudgin led Siena Heights in kills with 19 while Amanda Metz dished out 42 assists.

Both Hudgin and Gabrielle Kalugar completed the match with 13 digs and Taylor Purcell was the team leader in blocks, with five assisted for the Saints.

St. Mary's was paced by Meaghan Gibbons with ten kills and Alexis Grady with 28 assists. Gibbons also contributed 20 digs.

Match two: Siena Heights 3, Adrian 1
The Saints were victorious again, after defeating Adrian in four sets. Set scores were 17-25, 25-20, 25-22, and 25-13. 

In the second match for the Saints, Libby Breton was the kills leader with 13, while Amanda Metz held the team high 38 assists.

Haley Oleson finished with 20 digs and Taylor Purcell was again the SHU leader with blocks, denying seven attacks. 

Adrian was led by Margo Joubran with 22 kils and Marisa Dion with 50 assists. Haley Mellon added 16 digs while Joubran and Cassadine Reed both assisted on four blocks. 

Next up, the Siena Heights women's volleyball team will host non-conference opponent, Spring Arbor, on Monday, Oct. 10. First serve is set for 7:30 p.m.
