Women's Volleyball Falls to Indiana Tech in WHAC Face Off

FT. WAYNE, IND. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team traveled to face off against Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opponent, Indiana Tech. The Saints dropped the match 1-3 with set scores of 27-25, 16-25, 13-25 and 24-26. 

Libby Breton led the Saints with 11 kills and assisted on four blocks. She was followed by Paige Hudgin with eight kills. Hudgin also added nine digs to the SHU stat sheet. 

Gabrielle Kalugar was a top the Siena Heights leader board with 30 digs, while Amanda Metz finished with a team high 31 assists.

Indiana Tech was paced by Cassie Sarabia with 17 kills and Karli Jones with 25 assists. Taylor Kelso led the Warriors with 30 digs on the night.

SET-BY-SET

Set one: Siena Heights 27, Indiana Tech 25
The score was close throughout the set with points being traded and multiple ties and lead changes. The Saints took their final lead at 16-15 and was able to hold off the Warriors and take the set one victory.

Set two: Siena Heights 16, Indiana Tech 25
Points were traded at the beginning of the set until the Warriors opened the score up at 11-17 and kept their foot on the gas and complete the set two victory.

Set three: Siena Heights 13, Indiana Tech 25
Indiana Tech took off on an early 6-0 run. The Saints scored one point and the Warriors responded with a 5-0 run and opened up at 8-18 lead. SHU was not able to recover and dropped the third set.

Set four: Siena Heights 24, Indiana Tech 26
IT started the set with an early run, making the score 2-7. SHU responded with a run of their own and eventually tied the score at 9-9. Runs were traded throughout the set, but the Warriors took their final lead of the match at 22-23 and then completed their win.

Next up, the Siena Heights women's volleyball team will host Aquinas in a WHAC match up on Wednesday, Oct. 5. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
