Women's Volleyball Takes Fourth Straight WHAC Victory With Win Over Concordia

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team hosted Concordia in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match on Wednesday. The Saints took the victory, 3-0, and completed their fourth straight conference win.

Set scores were 25-19, 25-23 and 25-23

Paige Hudgin led the SHU (10-3, 4-1 WHAC) with 18 kills and added ten digs. Amanda Metz was the team leader in assists with 33.

Gabrielle Kalugar finished with a team high, 14 digs, while Libby Breton had one solo block and three assisted, completing the match with four total blocks.

For Concordia (12-9, 1-4 WHAC), Erica den Boer completed the match with 13 kills, Claire Truskowski finished with 19 assists and Julia Szuba was the Cardinal's leader with 18 digs.

Set-by-set

Set one: Siena Heights 25, Concordia 19
The Saints jumped out to a fast start with a 12-6 lead. The Cardinals fought back and brought the score back to within four at 23-19, but it was too late. SHU scored the final two points of the set.

Set two: Siena Heights 25, Concordia 23
The set was tight from the beginning with CUAA scoring the first two points, then SHU tying it at 3-3. Scoring was back and forth the whole set, with nine lead changes. Siena Heights took their final lead at 22-21 and never looked back.

Set three: Siena Heights 25, Concordia 23
Concordia had their foot on the gas from the start and raced out to a 5-10 lead. Siena Heights was not finished yet, they battled back to tie the score at 12-12. Points were traded, but the Saints took their final lead of the match at 23-22 and closed out the 3-0 victory. 

Next up, the Siena Heights women's volleyball team will travel to Cornerstone on Wednesday, Sept. 28, for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match-up. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
