Women's Volleyball Falls to Aquinas

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team fell to Aquinas, 3-0, in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play Wednesday.

Leze Vukaj led the Saints with 11 kills and four total blocks, who lost with set scores of 25-11, 26-24, 25-22.

Carly Tillotson capped off the night with 19 assists. Haley Mercy and Nicole Morgan carried the defense with 20 and 10 digs, respectively. SHU had four aces on the night -- two from Morgan -- and a total of six team blocks.

In the first set, Aquinas (8-6, 4-5) grabbed the early lead with a 7-3 run. Later in the set, AC had a 7-0 run -- eventually taking a 1-0 match lead.

In set two, SHU (7-6, 4-5 WHAC) bounced back an 8-3 before Aquinas rallied back; the hosts pulled into a 23-all tie and then took three of the final four points to claim the set.

In set three, SHU had five-point lead until Aquinas went on a run tying it at 11-11. The set was tied four additional times -- the final one being at 21-all -- before Aquinas closed on a 4-1 run.

Aquinas was led by Cammy Means with 11 kills and two aces. Michaela Ryan added eight kills and one block. Brooke Wieland finished the match with 32 assists and two aces. Katlyn Agren added 20 digs for Aquinas.

Siena Heights will face Marygrove for a WHAC matchup Friday at 7 p.m. at the SHU Fieldhouse.
