GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team swept its way through day two of the Aquinas/Cornerstone Classic, claiming a pair of 3-0 victories over Goshen (Ind.) and Rochester on Saturday.

Mycala Cherry compiled nine kills and 12 digs while Carly Tillotson finished with 30 assists and 12 digs as the Saints won sets by scores of 25-19, 25-20, 25-22.

Emily Abbs and Halie Baker added seven kills apiece for SHU and Nicole Morgan came through with 13 digs.

At 18-18 in the first set, Siena Heights closed with a 7-1 run to take a one-set lead. In the second, the last tie was at 5-all before SHU took the lead and held the rest of the way.

Then, in the third, the Saints closed the match with a 10-2 stretch.

Melanie Meyer had 13 kills to lead Goshen while Lisa Rodriguez and Kelsey Smith contributed 14 and 13 assists, respectively. Missy Mackowiak added 12 digs and Lexa Magnuson finished with four total blocks.

In the triumph over Rochester, Alexis McIntosh and Leze Vukaj had 11 kills for the Saints, who won by scores of 25-12, 25-17, 26-24.

Tillotson made 34 assists and Morgan contributed  14 digs.

SHU opened the first set with a 3-0 run and then had 5- and 7-point runs in the second. The Saints faced set-point in the third, put scored three consecutive points to finish the match.

Paige TenBrink totaled nine kills and 12 digs for Rochester. Tara Vandenburg made 14 assists.

SHU's all-time kills leader, Baker, built on her school record, getting to 1,182 collegiate kills. Tillotson continued to close the gap between herself and the all-time assists leader, Melissa Hall. Tillotson has 2,387 assists -- 46 short of Hall's 2,433 (2006-09).

Tillotson was named to the Aquinas/Cornerstone Classic All-Tournament Team while Baker was recognized as an honorable mention.

Siena Heights (15-9) will return to action on Wednesday with its home regular-season finale against Madonna, which is set to begin at 7 p.m.
