Women's Volleyball Earns First WHAC Win of 2014

DEARBORN, Mich. -- Abby Whitehead smacked 10 kills and Alexis McIntosh contributed seven kills as the Siena Heights women's volleyball team grabbed its first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference win of the season with a 3-0 sweep of Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday.

Carly Tillotson added 28 assists, Mycala Cherry smashed four aces, and Whitehead finished with four total blocks for the Saints (4-4, 1-3), who won by scores of 25-21, 25-9 and 25-21.

The Saints broke an 18-all tie in the first set, scoring 7 of 11 points to close the set. In the second set, SHU had a 5-point run and two 4-point runs.

During the final set, SHU scored three consecutive points to break a 4-4 tie and led the rest of the way.

Megan Ynclan had six kills for Dearborn and Rebecca Carley finished with 14 digs.

The Saints will return to action on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest against Cornerstone.
