Women's Track and Field Have Good Showing at Michigan State Spartan Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's outdoor track and field team had a good showing at the Michigan State University Spartan Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Mildrenae Young-Brooks was the lone winner for the Saints as she won the long jump with a leap of 5.58m (18' 3.75"). That mark is currently 14th-best in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) rankings for this season. Young-Brooks also finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with an "A-Standard" time of 14.48 seconds which is fifth in the NAIA.

Delaney Stersic placed second in the 400-meter run with the 19th-best time in the NAIA at 57.58. The 4x100 relay team consisting of Madisyn Kleinschmit, Young-Brooks, Emily Hill, and Asia Gardner finished in 46.76 for second place. That time is an "A-Standard" and has the relay ranked fourth in the country. Jaymz Gibson also had a second-place finish in the javelin. Her heave of 39.06m (128' 2") is 13th in the NAIA. 

Julia Forbes had three top-10 finishes on the day. Her best one was a third-place, 10.71m (35' 1.75") mark in the triple jump. Her other two were a ninth-place finish in the long jump and 10th in the 100-meter dash. Haley Hudson threw 14.56m (47' 1.75") in the shot put for a third-place showing. That mark is an "A-Standard" and puts her second in the nation. Madisyn Kleinschmit was the final top-three finisher for the Saints with a 12.57 time in the 100-meter dash.

The 4x400 relay team of Young-Brooks, Hill, Gardner, and Stersic finished fourth with a time of 4:00.06 which is 10th-best in the NAIA. Christine Tylutki placed fourth in the javelin with a best throw of 33.26m (109' 1"). Andrea Crowe finished the 5k in 18:13.94 for fourth in the event. Rachel O'Neill was fourth in the hammer throw with a "B-Standard" mark of 49.15m (161' 3") to ranked 15th on the national level. She also through a "B-Standard" in the shot put with a launch of 13.43m (44' 0.75") which ranks her 11th in the NAIA in that event.
