Two Saints Auto Qualify On a Big Day at the GVSU Bob Eubanks Open

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's track and field team finished second out of 18 teams with 97.5 points at the Grand Valley State University Bob Eubanks Open on Friday afternoon.

Mildrenae Young-Brooks finished second in the 60 hurdles with a time 8.99 to auto-qualify in the event. She also tallied a fifth-place mark in the long jump with a provisional mark of 5.56m (18' 3").

Kierra Rice hit provisional with a fourth-place finish in the 60 hurdles with a time of 9.13.

Haley Hudson won the shot put with a best throw of 13.96m (45' 9.75"). That mark is short of her school record throw she recorded earlier this season but is still an auto-qualifying mark.

Asia Gardner won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.83 (provisional). She also finished third in the 200-meter run with a time of 25.51.

Delaney Stersic won the 600-meter run in 1:42.16 and Casie Nadasky finished fifth in the 800 in 2:23.22.

The women's "A" squad 4x400 relay team consisting of Madisyn Kleinschmit, Asia Gardner, Mildrenae Young-Brooks, and Delaney Stersic finished third with a 4:02.07 mark.

Kierra Rice cleared the high jump bar at 1.52m (4' 11.75") for a fourth-place finish.

Jaymz Gibson and Hannah Cain both cleared the bar at 3.11m (10' 2.5") in the pole vault to tie for fifth.

Abigail Bansen and Julia Forbes finished fourth and seventh in the triple jump. Bansen's best jump of 10.66m (34' 11.75") while Forbes jumped 10.44m (34' 3").

Rachel O'Neill tallied a sixth-place finish in the weight throw with a heave of 15.19m (49' 10").

Andrea Crowe finished the mile in 5:41.80 for seventh and the 3K in 10:56.72 for 10th in the event.

The SHU women's track and field team will return to GVSU next Saturday, January 19 to compete in the Mike Lints Open.
