Miller Wins the Javelin to Help Women's Track and Field Lead After Day 1 of the 2018 WHAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship

ADRIAN, Mich. – Tina Miller earned first place in the javelin to help the Siena Heights women's track and field team on the first day of competition in the 2018 WHAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship, on Thursday. Siena Heights leads the event by 12 points after five events.

Miller won the javelin with a throw of 37.66m while Jaymz Gibson took third with a throw of 36.18 meters and Christine Tylutki finished fourth with a 32.63 meter throw for the Saints.

Rachel O'Neill took second in the hammer throw with a toss of 48.72 meters. Also earning points for SHU in the hammer throw was Emily Couture, Courtney Taylor, Miller and Amanda Geerlings.

In the long jump, Julia Forbes and Mildrenae Young-Brooks finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Forbes went 5.84 meters while Young-Brooks went 5.82 meters.

Siena Heights took fifth in the 4x800m relay with a time of 10:32.38. The team consisted of Madeline Auth, Anna Buist, Harneet Singh and Eva Chmielewski.

As a team, Siena Heights leads with 56 points followed by Cornerstone (44), Indiana Tech (40), Aquinas (32), Madonna (9) and Concordia (8).

Siena Heights will continue in the Championship meet on Friday, starting at 3:30 p.m. with field events with running events beginning at 4:30 p.m.
