Women's Track and Field Runner-Up at NCAA Div. II Hillsdale "GINA" Relays

HILLSDALE, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's track and field team took runner-up at the Hillsdale "GINA" Championship Relays, on Friday and Saturday, to NCAA Div. I Michigan State while defeating NCAA Div. II schools.

Earning first place in the 4x100 meter relay was the Saints team consisting of Madisyn Kleinschmit, Mildrenae Young-Brooks, Alexis Moore and Asia Gardner with an automatic-qualifying time of 16.85 seconds, defeating MSU by .05 seconds.

Sheila McKinley and Tasha McKinley each earned a PR as they cleared the pole vault at 3.97 meters (13 feet, 1/4 inches) to go third and fifth, respectively, via tiebreaker.

With two second place finishes, Gardner managed an automatic time in the 100m dash and provisional time in the 200m dash. She crossed the finish line at 11.94 seconds in the 100m and 24.84 seconds in the 200m.

Young-Brooks took sixth in the 100m hurdles with a provisional time of 14.69 seconds.

In the 400 meter dash, Moore took third place as she crossed the finish line in 57.72 seconds.

The Saints 4x400m relay team claimed second with a time of 3:59.81. The team consisted of Tyriah Pryor, Delaney Stersic, Brianna Pekel and Alexis Moore.

With an automatic-qualifying performance in the open shotput, Haley Hudson claimed third with a toss of 13.49m (45-9). Also earning third was Tina Miller in the open javelin as she threw 35.29m (115-9).

As a team, the Saints earned 59 points on the Championship side of the relays, trailing Michigan State by four points. Also finishing in the top 10 was Lewis, Aquinas, Hillsdale, St. Francis (Ill.), Grand Valley State, toledo and Michigan Tech.
