Women's Track and Field Has 13 First Places Performances at Don Kleinow Invite

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Siena Heights women's track and field team earned 13 first place finishers and 27 top three finishers along with five automatic and three provisional performances at the Don Kleinow Invitational, on Friday.

SHU took first and second in the long jump as Mildrenae Young-Brooks won with a leap of 5.91m, followed closely by Julia Forbes with a 5.85m jump. Both earning an automatic-bid to Nationals.

With a first place finish in the pole vault, Tasha McKinley cleared the bar at an automatic height of 3.75 meters. Tying for third place was Tasha McKinley as she vaulted 3.55 meters for a provisional-bid.

Winning the triple jump with an automatic-qualifying distance of 11.78 meters was Charlena Williams, beating second place competitor by .87 meters.

Young-Brooks also claimed the title in the 100 meter hurdles with a provisional time of 14.92 seconds.

In the 400 meter dash, Alexis Moore claimed first with a provisional time of 57.19 seconds. Taking third with a time of 59.71 seconds was Delaney Stersic.

Siena Heights won the 4x100 meter relay with an automatic-qualifying time of 47.39. The team consisted of Kleinschmit, Young-Brooks, Moore and Gardner.

SHU also won the 4x400 meter relay by over six seconds, crossing the finish line at 4:01.19. This team consisted of Brianna Pekel, Stersic, Gardner and Moore.

The Saints swept the top three in the 100 meter dash, leading the pack was Asia Gardner with a time of 12.28 seconds. In second was Madisyn Kleinschmit, 12.42 seconds, and taking thing was Emily Hill, 12.66 seconds.

SHU had another sweep in the 200 meter dash with Gardner in front with a time of 25.16 seconds. In second was Young-Brooks in 25.22 and rounding out the top three was Moore in 25.53 seconds.

Tyriah Pryor won the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.91.

Anna Buist won the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 12:20.20 as Eva Chmielewski took third in 13:06.21.

With a second place finish in the javelin throw, Tina Miller threw a distance of 35.54 meters.

In the women's hammer throw, Emily Couture and O'Neill took second and third, respectively.

Taking third in the high jump was Samantha Merritt with a height of 1.45m.

Pekel claimed third place in the 800 meter run in 2:22.89.

Siena Heights will return to action on Thursday, Friday and Saturday as they travel to Hillsdale for the Gina Relays.
