Women's Track and Field Find Success at the Walsh Invite

CANTON, Ohio -- Three automatic bids and six provisional qualifications paced the Siena Heights women's track and field team at the Walsh Invite, on Saturday.

Alexis Moore finished on top of the podium and earned an automatic bid to nationals with a time of 56.81 in the 400 meter dash.

The 4x100 meter relay team consisting of Hanna Kleinschmit, Mildrenae Young-Brooks, Moore, Asia Gardner automatically qualified with a time of 47.52 also earning them a second place spot.

Gardner placed second in 12.15 in the 100 meter and 24.79 in the 200 meter. Both times hit the provisional qualifying mark.

Young-Brooks placed third in 12.16 while competing in the 100 meter, and 24.87 in the 200 meter run. She qualified provisionally in the 200 meters. In the 100 meter hurdles, Young-Brooks placed second in 14.57 and an automatic qualification.

The women's 4x400 team finished in second place and provisionally qualified with a time of 3:55.15. The team consisted of Pryor, Stersic, Pekel, Moore.

Also provisionally qualifying is Haley Hudson in the women's shot put with 13.57 meters and Rachel O'Neill in the hammer with a distance of 49.45 meters.

Amanda Geerlings placed third in the discus with 41.76 meters.

In the 400 meter hurdles Tyriah Pryor took third place in 1:06.12.

Next up, the Saints will host the annual Don Kleinow Invitational on Friday, April 20. Field events start at 11 a.m. with running events beginning at 2:30 p.m.
