Men's and Women's Track and Field Find Success at GVSU Big Meet

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Siena Heights men's and women's track and field team took a limited number of athletes to the GVSU "Big Meet," on Saturday. The women ended with six automatic-qualifiers as the men came away with one automatic-qualifier.

The women's 4x400m relay team finished second, behind Hillsdale, coming in at an automatic-qualifying time of 3:59.04. The team consisted of Brianna Pekel, Delaney Stersic, Megan Rosales and Alexis Moore.

In the 400m dash, Moore took third place with an automatic time of 57.75, only .01 behind the second place GVSU performer. 

Mildrenae Young-Brooks finished third in the 60m hurdles in 8.94 seconds, an automatic-qualifying time. Gardner also earned an automatic-time in the 200m dash, crossing the finish line in 25.14.

Tasha McKinley and Sheila McKinley finished first and second, respectively, as they each cleared 3.67 meters in the pole vault to again hit an automatic height.

On the men's side, Devonte Johnson cleared 5.02 meters to take second in the pole vault with his automatic height.

Next up, the Saints will travel to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championship Meet, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 17, at Aquinas.
