Women's T&F Has Success at North Carolina A&T

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Siena Heights women's track and field team found success this weekend after attending a few different meets as last chance qualifiers and practice for the NAIA National Championships. SHU took a group of sprinters and jumpers to North Carolina A&T for the 2017 Aggie Last Chance meet, the Saints improving their times and rankings. 

Asia Gardner earned fifth place in the 100m dash with a time of 12.01 seconds; however, in the preliminary round Gardner ran the 100 meters in 11.84 seconds. In the 200m dash, Gardner earned her best time of season.

The Saints also improved on the 4x100m relay time, crossing the finish line in 47.07 for their best time of the season to earn ninth at the meet. 

Marissa Johnson took home the high jump title after clearing the bar at 1.78 meters for her best jump of the season. The 5 feet, 10 inches clearance is her career personal record. 

Taking sixth and seventh in the triple jump was Charlena Williams and Mildrenae Young-Brooks, respectively. Williams went 11.49 meters while Young-Brooks went 11.28m. 

SHU will finish their season at the NAIA National Championship Meet on May 24-26 in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
