Women's Cross Country and Track & Field Program Ranks Fifth in the NAIA

The Siena Heights women's cross country team and track & field team ranked fifth on the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NAIA Program of the Year Standings, as announced recently.

In order to earn this award the cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field teams all have to qualify for the NAIA championships.

Points are distributed according to the place earned at the championship event. For example, first place earns one point, second is two points and so on. The team with the least amount of points earns the USTFCCCA NAIA Program of the Year title.

The SHU women's cross country team finished 27th (27 points), while the women's indoor team finished fourth (4 points) and the women's outdoor team finished third (3 points), to give the Saints 34 total points.

Biola (Calif.) took first place via tiebreaker over Aquinas, both team finishing with 19 points. Carroll (Mont.) earned 20 points for third place while College of Idaho took fourth place with 33 points.
