Women's Track & Field Place First in Aquinas Meet

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's track and field team won the Aquinas College Quad-Meet #2, on Friday. As a team, the Saints have posted 14 automatic-qualifiers and seven provisional qualifiers for the NAIA Indoor National Championships.

The Saints scored 213 points followed by Aquinas with 174 points, Spring Arbor with 91 points and rounding out the meet was Hope with 62 points.

Overall, the Saints tallied 11 event wins with six second place finishes, seven third place scores and five fourth place efforts.

One of the meet highlights was thrower Kasey Renshaw's effort in the Weight Throw. Breaking the fieldhouse record by ten feet and eclipsing her own NAIA, WHAC and SHU record, Renshaw threw 20.32 meters, 66-8.0. She is currently ranked first in NAIA rankings and thirteenth in the U.S. in all divisions. Kasey has also qualified for the USATF Indoor National Championships held in Portland, Oregon.

Mildrenae Young-Brooks finished the 60m dash in PR of 7.78 seconds.

Jalesia Johnson notched two victories in the 200m and 400m with times of 25.61 seconds and 58.86 seconds, respectively. Johnson was also the anchor leg of the winning 4x400m relay comprised of: Mariah Ridal, Hannah Shellenbarger, and Ashley Russo.

Ridal also won the 600m run just off a qualifying time in 1:39.04.

Russo won the 1000m in a time of 3:06.74 and was second in the mile running 2:20.42.

Amber Koprin won the high jump in a tie-breaker with a jump of 1.68m with teammate Phoenix Duncan. The trio of Marissa Johnson, Duncan and Koprin are still tied at the top position atop the NAIA rankings.

Sheila McKinley won the pole vault at 3.76m with twin sister Tasha McKinley placing third with a jump of 3.66m.

Madison Pierce finished in first place in the long jump with a jump of 5.14m.

In the shot put teammates Haley Hudson and Kasey Renshaw both threw 13.84m with Hudson winning the event in a tie-breaker.

Finishing runner up in events were, Mildrenae Young-Brooks in the 200m, Amber Koprin in the triple jump, and Rebecca Cousineau in the weight throw.

Siena Heights will compete this weekend at University of Findlay and Saginaw Valley State University.
