CoSIDA Academic All-America Release
GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Siena Heights senior forward Taylor Mulder (Saline, Mich. / Saline HS) was selected to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America™ Women's Soccer First Team College Division as announced by CoSIDA on Monday, December 3.
Mulder becomes the first Saint women's soccer player to earn this prestigious award. "I am proud of Taylor for receiving this award," said head coach Scott Oliver. "She is the first member of the Siena Heights women's soccer program to ever receive this honor in a program that has a rich history of academic honors. This prestigious award further cements her place in this program and further solidifies her hard work and dedication in both athletics and academics.
Mulder had a phenomenal season as she led the league in four statistical categories including shots (82), points (40), and goals (17). She also tied for fourth in the league in game-winning goals with three and tied for ninth in assists with six. For her performance, she was named First Team All-WHAC as well as the all-academic team when the league announced award winners. She was named a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete for the second consecutive year last week and this current award caps her amazing four-year career at Siena. "Receiving this award is an incredible honor," said Mulder. "I am beyond grateful to have been chosen for this honor."
Taylor majors in biology and is one of nine athletes on the first team with a perfect 4.00 GPA.
The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® College Division teams consist of the 22 best NAIA student-athletes on the field and in the classroom on two teams from all across the country. The First Team has one goalkeeper, four defensemen, five midfielders, and three forwards. The Second Team contains a goalie, four defenders, one midfielder, and three forwards.
Mulder is one of two athletes in the state of Michigan on the list as she joins the 2018 Academic All-American of the Year, Bethany Balcer from Spring Arbor University.
