Eastman Scores Game Winning Goal

Adrian, Mich. The Siena Heights women's soccer team wins a thrilling game in double OT against the Cornerstone Golden Eagles.

The Basics:

Final Score: Siena Heights 2, Cornerstone 1

Location: Adrian, Mich. (O'Laughlin Stadium)

Records: SHU 12-1-0 (5-1-0) Cornerstone 5-7-0 (1-5-0)

How It Happened:

The Saints came out of the gate shooting. SHU was able to tally 12 shots just in the first half compared to the Golden Eagles three. Siena got their first goal of the game by Danielle Eastman (Senior, Clark Lake, Mich.) who scored unassisted in the 26th minute. Later in the half Cornerstone would strike back to tie the game up at 1 heading into halftime.

The second half was a back and forth battle between both teams. A lot of midfield action took place as a combined 12 shots were taken from both teams. As nobody could land one in the back of the net, the game was heading into overtime.

Siena had some great scoring chances in the first overtime but couldn't score. As the game headed to double overtime the Saints were outshooting the Golden Eagles 24-8. The game was finally put to an end a thrilling way as Eastman would strike again and score in the 101st minute.

  • Eastman scored two goals on the day adding her season total to five
  • Sophia Lentz (Junior, Kalamazoo, Mich.) started in goal for Siena and earned the win

  • Phoebe LaCroix scored Cornerstone's only goal
