Saints offense comes alive vs the spartans

Adrian, Mich. The Siena Heights University women's soccer team's offense came alive today as they beat Missouri Baptist 4-0. Taylor Mulder (Senior, Saline, Mich.) scored two goals on the day to lead the saints.

The Basics:

Final Score: Siena Heights 4, Missouri Baptist 0

Location: Adrian, Michigan (O'Laughlin Stadium)

Records: SHU (2-0-0) Missouri Baptist (0-4-0)

How It Happened:

From the first whistle of the game to the last, Siena was dominating the shot total over Missouri Baptist. The saints were able to have 10 shots in the first half while limiting the Spartans to only five.

The scoring opened up in the 14th minute as Ashley Strong (Sophomore, Howell, Mich.) was able to put the ball in the net and give SHU the early lead. The Spartan's defense would not be able to hold up as in the 26th minute, Mulder netted a ball to extend the lead for the saints. Then Mulder would continue to have the hot foot as she scored again in the 39th minute to give her a third goal on the season. Missouri Baptist got shut down by the saints' defense in the second half as they were only able to put up three shots. In the 53th minute, Danielle Eastman (Senior, Clark Lake, Mich.) scored on a nice assist by Paige Rachut (Senior, Plainwell, Mich.) who would get her second assist of the game.

In goal for Siena was Sophia Lentz (Junior, Kalamazoo, Mich.), who earned a shutout making four saves on the day.

Top Saints:

-Mulder scored two goals giving her a total of three on the season.

-Rachut had two assists on the day bringing her total up to three on the season.

-Strong would score her first goal of the season as well as have a assists on the day.

The Opposition:

-Miranda Pratt, Morgan Mell, and Allie Heniz would lead the Spartans offense as they all had two shots on the day.

-In goal was Jemica Artillaga who was able to make 10 saves during the game.

Siena Heights welcomes in Robert Morris (Ill.) tomorrow Sunday, Sept, 2 in Adrian, Mich. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm EST.
