Siena Heights Travels to Columbia for Opening Round in the 2017 NAIA National Tournament

The Siena Heights women's soccer team is headed to No. 10 Columbia (Mo.) for the First Round of the 2017 NAIA Women's Soccer National Tournament, on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CST (2 p.m. EST) at R. Marvin Owens Field in Columbia, Mo.

SHU earned an automatic-bid to the National Tournament by defeating the second-ranked, defending National Champions, Northwestern Ohio 3-2 in overtime to claim the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament title, also giving UNOH their second loss of the season. The Saints are currently 12-6-2 while the hosting Cougars are 20-1-0 overall.

Overall for the 2017 season, Siena Heights has scored 49 goals while their opponets have netted 24 shots. Columbia has outscored their opponents 103-6 while earning 17 shutouts. Their lone loss of the season came from William Woods (Mo.), falling 2-1.

Leading the Saints is Samantha Bartelotti with 12 goals and seven assists, with seven goals and five assists is Taylor Mulder. In goal for Siena Heights, Meghan Bogg has played in 11 games with a 5-1-1 record. Bogg had made 50 saves while allowing 11 goals for a save percentage of .820.

For the Cougars, Laurie Frew has 23 goals and 19 assists to lead the team. Kelsey Mirts has contributed 19 goals and 11 assists for CC. In net, Madison Boyken has played in 17 games, allowing three goals with 25 saves for a save percentage of .893.

Price for admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students with proper identification.

This will be the first meeting between the programs in school history, the Cougars' women's soccer program was established in 2012. Saturday will be the Saints' sixth appearance in the tournament with Head Coach Scott Oliver. Their last appearance was in 2011, SHU falling to Spring Arbor 1-0 in the opening round.
