Rachut Nets Two In Women's Soccer Victory Over USF

ADRIAN, Mich. – Paige Rachut scored twice in the 4-0 Siena Heights women's soccer victory over Saint Francis (Ind.) in non-conference action, on Tuesday.

Erin Scheidel passed a through ball to Samantha Bartelotti who scored the game-winner in the 19th-minute to start off the Saints scoring. Rachut netted a shot in the 30th-minute to make the score 2-0 before halftime.

SHU's Rachut then finished a rebound off of a Bartelotti shot in the 50th-minute. The final goal of the match came from Kathryn Gordon in the 69th-minute after Ashley Strong beat the defender on the end line and slotted a pass across the box.

Bartelotti led the Saints in shots with seven, including four on frame. Taylor Mulder also took six shots for SHU with three on goal. Thirteen Saints in total managed at least one shot. Brey Baltazar had two shots for USF while Aylissa Trosper and Hannah Elzinga each had one.

In goal for Siena Heights (3-4), Sophia Lentz stopped three shots. Starting goalkeeper Sarah Lewis made 14 saves for the Cougars (6-3) prior to Monica Steiber relieving her in the 74th-minute, making two saves.

The Saints will return to action on Saturday in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opener against Madonna. Kickoff is slated for 4:30 p.m.
